Matthew 28:16-20
Living in the community of the Trinity
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.
17 When they saw him, they worshiped him, but they doubted.
18 And Jesus came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

In this scripture from Matthew, we see that the title, "Living in the Community of the Trinity," is a calling for us, as Bible passages so often are. Jesus calls us to live in the community of the Trinity and to share God's call and way of life with others (verse 20). We also are reminded that we aren't alone in this journey; Jesus guides us! Although the Holy Trinity is very challenging for us to understand as humans (it is about one God existing simultaneously as three Beings, after all!), we believe it by taking a leap of faith!
The question then becomes how we live and share this message with others? I believe that we succeed in this by living lives of Faith, Hope, and Love! When we are feeling doubt, we can pray to God and ask our faith community how to feel that faith. When we are afraid, we can pray to God and share His hope with others to help us through our fear. When we crave companionship, we can pray to God and live with His Love as our guide!

The Holy Trinity is one of the hardest things about our faith for us to understand as humans. Our finite minds have a hard time fully conceptualizing this. Maybe we will never be able to fully understand it while we are living here on Earth. But that's all right! The fact that we don't need to have all the answers, have a full understanding of theology, and the fact that we can live with a leap of faith can provide us with comfort!
In our Christian lives, we speak about the three Persons of the Holy Trinity all of the time. When we pray the "Lord's Prayer," when we talk about Jesus as the Messiah, and when we baptize believers through the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we are proclaiming work of the Holy Trinity in our lives. But we can challenge ourselves to not just do this in name only by "going through the motions." Let us take this week to renew our commitment to proclaim the awesome Truth of the Holy Trinity to all people!
God bless us all, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit! Joey
PS - A blessed Memorial Day to one and all, and may we pray for peace on Earth! And a happy second Anniversary to my amazing wife, Andrea! I love you!
