A Note from Pastor Mary

Hello Everyone -- Good Christian Friends, Rejoice!

I am looking forward to worshiping Jesus with you tomorrow and celebrating Mother's Day with all of you.  Let me share a memory that I have about my Mom, Kitty Dadisman.  Mom attended JMU toward a degree in business, and then spent most of her working years (over 30) as a Teacher's Assistant in Harrisonburg City Schools, many of them in Kindergarten.  For years, she team-taught early elementary Sunday School.  I remember her singing a song about the Mothers in the Bible that came out of the Sunday School curriculum:

"Sarah had a baby, a baby, a baby, Sarah had a baby, his name was Isaac."

"Ruth had a baby, a baby, a baby, Ruth had a baby, his name was Obed."

Then...

"Mary had a baby, a baby, a baby, Mary had a baby, his name was Jesus."

Mom loved loved loved to sing and she loved all kinds of music.  She loved hymns and enjoyed editing the hymns and making up her own words.  When asked "What was her favorite hymn?" my brother said, "I think it was all of them."  She played a lot of music in our house growing up and used a lot of music to teach us.

Mom was also a "Tea Activist."  Mom did not like coffee, but drank a cup or two of tea every day as long as I can remember.  When churches began to have coffee after the service, she claimed she was "being discriminated against," and started offering hot water and tea to those who wanted it!

Back to Sunday School.... I will never forget.  Each year for Sunday School, Mom made construction paper tea pots for all the children in her class to decorate and give their mothers or a special woman in their lives.  It had a pocket for a tea bag and each one had a poem:

"Happy Mother's Day!

I try to do my best in every way.

So when you get upset with me,

relax and have a cup of tea."

Happy Mother's Day to those who nurtured us and nurtured us in the faith.  To those we have and hold now and to those that we miss!

Blessings,  Pastor Mary

Please continue to share the good news that our worship time is at 10 AM.

Keep inviting friends & neighbors to Sunday School at 9 AM & joyful meaningful worship at 10 AM.
